Ramadhan Day 3 / Juzz 3
"Allah does not charge a
soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of]
what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it
has earned." [2:286]
The word تكليف (takleef) means, to burden with something. This ayah
reminds us that any trials we go through in life are tailored for us and our
personality. What someone else is going through is not something you may be
able to handle, and likewise, something your going through may not be something
another person can handle. Keep this In mind when you are advising a person who
is going through difficulty.
Allah also says:
"It will
have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the
consequence of] what [evil] it has earned."
Meaning, there are some things
that you earn that will go for you and some that will go against you. Allah
uses the word كسب for earning good
deeds, which means easier to earn. This shows that although good deeds may
require a lot of work in the short term, in the long run Allah will make them
easy.
But Allah uses the word اكتسب for earning sins which means not easy. This shows us
that doing sins might seem easier to earn In the short term, but In the long
term there will be a lot of difficulty involved due to the consequences of
those sins in this life and the next. So in essence, they are difficult to
earn.
May Allah make us amongst those who earn heaps of good deeds so they count for us on the Day of Judgement, ameen.
