Ramadhan Day 5 /Juzz 5
"O you who have believed, do
not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by
mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is
to you ever Merciful." [4:29]
In this ayah, Allah begins by
saying, "don't consume each other's money unjustly." In other words,
don't lie about your hours at your job, or don't sit there drinking a cup of
coffee when your supposed to be working and getting paid for it, *unless* your
employer knows what your doing, and there's a mutual agreement between you.
Nobody can be 100% productive all
the time, and maybe you do take breaks in between, but if your employer knows
that and it's accepted to him, then it's ok because it's mutually agreed.
The lesson from this ayah is
important, as it guides us on how to deal with each other in the professional
arena. From this ayah we learn to not overprice things, or eat people's money
because this is something unacceptable by Allah.
The beauty of the ayah is that
both parties must not only agree but must also be happy and content.
If we stuck by this verse, our
business transactions, and the companies we run, and our employees would be so
much more happy and content. Wouldn't our lives and relationships with people
also be much better?
The Qur'an guides us in all
aspects of our life. Even at our workplace. SubhanAllah.
Now do we know why it's such an
amazing gift and miracle?
May
Allah help us be fair and help us to implement the wonderful ethics in this
ayah, ameen.
