Ramadhan Day 15 / Juzz 15
He said, "Indeed, with me you will never be able to have
patience. And how can you have patience for what you do not encompass in
knowledge?" [Moses] said, "You will find me, if Allah wills, patient,
and I will not disobey you in [any] order." He said, "Then if you
follow me, do not ask me about anything until I make to you about it
mention." So they set out, until when they had embarked on the ship,
al-Khidh r tore it open. [Moses] said, "Have you torn it open to drown its
people? You have certainly done a grave thing." [18:67-71]
SubhanAllah, the story of Musa (عليه سلام)
and Khidr (عليه سلام) holds so
many profound lessons. Even Musa (عليه سلام),
a prophet of Allah, the one who spoke to Allah, struggled to stop himself from
questioning the actions of someone who was more knowledgeable than him. Just
like us, he was human.
Yet, how many of us do this with Allah? The One who has the
greatest knowledge of everything, both seen and unseen. The One who knows what
thoughts we are harbouring in our minds right now. Just like Musa (عليه سلام)
lost patience with Khidr (عليه سلام),
we sometimes lose patience with Allah and begin to question His plan and
decree, forgetting that He knows exactly what He is doing, as He is Al-'Aleem,
the Knower of everything, the Knower of every creature, even of the little ant
that scurries under a rock in the darkness of the night.
Instead of questioning the plan of Allah, let's have patience
and watch his decree for you unfold, for He knows what is best for you.
And to Allah belongs the
greatest example.
